Strategic Training

In order for your team to build your dream, they must understand why you have brought them together, what you want them to build, and how they are expected to build it. This requires clarity from the visionary and training for the team.

  • Purpose - Understanding why you want your dream built
  • Vision - Knowing what is to be done to build your dream
  • Mission - Choosing how your team is going to build your dream for you

Purpose - Understanding why you want your dream built

Knowing why your dream must be built to make the world a better place is your role as the entrepreneurial visionary. If you are not clear on why, your team will not be clear on how. Learning to describe your project in compact, clear language is a key entrepreneurial skill.

Vision - Knowing what is to be done to build your dream

The irony of sequencing in early stage startups is that you must make as much progress as possible while doing as little as possible. You must make as much progress as you possibly can with the time, money, and resources you have in hand before anyone will give you more resources to go farther. In this process knowing what not to do (yet) is as important as knowing what needs to be done.

Mission - Choosing how your team is going to build your dream for you

In the beginning, no one knows how to build your dream. Not you, not your team, not your competition. In fact, the goal in early stage entrepreneurship is to make more mistakes and learn faster than your competition so that when you move into operations you will be the most experienced and knowledgeable operator in your niche.

The key to success is that you must let your team choose how best to serve you and you must hold fast to your dream, letting them make mistakes but always bringing them back to your dream until you and they have built something new in the world that most people said was impossible.
